Repurposed Drum Table

This week I wanted to talk about one of our repurposing projects. This piece my mom had a lot of fun making. She found the drum in this shabby condition and came up with the idea of turning it into a table. She didn’t tell me exactly what she was going to do and just started to work on it. It turned out really good.

She started by sanding the sides of the drum to make it more of a shabby chic. Then took 1940 chair legs and mounted them to the bottom of the drum to hold it. She cut a hole in the top of the drum and put a clock inside. Then she had to buy the glass. This was a challenge, but she finally found one and we were happy it was beveled glass.  She made the table so the glass can be taken off and the clock inside so the batteries can be replaced easily. What a great way to repurpose an old drum!

Antique Italian Marble Top and Black Walnut Base Table

This beautiful piece has an Italian marble top and a black walnut base. The table is in great condition for its age and is from the Victorian era. The hand carved wood base shows the artistry of the time.

We are always amazed how smart they were back then to put all their furniture on wheels it makes them easier to move around. Why don’t we do this with the furniture we have now?

3 Antique Chairs Reupholstered

This week I wanted to talk about three antique chairs we have reupholstered. There is an antique Lincoln rocking chair, an antique chair with wheels, and a Victorian chair.

Antique Lincoln Rocking Chair
It is burled wood and very old. When we found the rocking chair it was in pieces. My mom put a lot of work into the piece and did a beautiful job. She even did individual nail heads through the back of the chair.

Antique Rolling Chair
This chair is from the 1930’s. We thought this would be a beautiful desk chair because it was on wheels, but the fabric needed to be changed. So we found the perfect fabric to use and my mom came up with the fringe to make it stand out and it turned out really nice.

Victorian Chair

This Victorian chair has beautifully carved spiral spindles. It is over 100 years. It was bought fro ma bed and breakfast. When we found the chair it had a bad recovering job. My mom found a beautiful fabric for it and put a lot of work into the individual nail heads on the piece.

Introduction and Antique Early 1940's Ship Bronze Chandelier

I wanted to start this post by talking about our company. We have had an interest in antiques for several years and we started Mauro's Resale about two and a half years ago. My mom and I have a lot of fun finding unique pieces and researching them. We love to bring old stuff back to its original condition and also repurpose items when we have too. My mom is the main talent for fixing our pieces. I usually keep us organized, promote the business, and help her when I can. We have a lot of great pieces that are antique, vintage, collectibles, and repurposed items. We mainly deal in furniture and collectibles.

I also wanted to share our favorite piece we have right now. In the pictures it shows the incredible workmanship on this antique early 1940's ship chandelier. The chandelier is made by the Lincoln Lamp Company and is a numbered piece. It is all bronze and is a very solid piece. It is very heavy and takes two of us to move it. This beautiful piece is an incredible piece of art and would be a great centerpiece for any home. This piece is truly a work of art.
