Repurposed Bench Made From An Antique Single Bed

This week I wanted to share a bench we made from an old bed. The bed is an antique single bed from around the 1930’s or 1940’s. My mom made this beautiful piece mostly using the bed itself. This was her first attempt at trying this and I think she did a great job!

She used the headboard for the back and the footboard was cut in half and used for the sides. I helped her by holding each side steady and level as she mounted it to the headboard. Once that was finished she used all the side rails for the front and in making the seat. She used trim to finish the edges and upholstered the seat. My mom then painted the piece with this yellow cream color and once it dried she distressed it to give it a shabby chic look. The best part is she put wheels on it so it can be moved around easily. I think it looks really good and it is hard to believe she has never done this before. How do you all think it turned out?
